Congrats Julie!  Please email me your address and I'll arrange shipping of your new book.  In case you can't find my email on this blog it is thatartistwoman@shaw.ca

Thanks everyone for entering, I love your comments and if you didn't win maybe you'll come across the "Inkblot" book at the bookstore or library and fall in love with it too.

So it was "Mad Scientist" Day at school today.

My 2 boys got right in to it.

Ryan was Beaker from the Muppets but sadly no one knew who that was in his class.  We have the tv shows on dvd and the kids love them as much as I did plus it's nice to see those celebrity hosts when they were younger.....my daughter Allison couldn't believe it was Elton John from the 1st season...."He looks so silly Mom!"

On to a quick Easter project that Grade 1 did today.  We needed something fast for the bulletin board so they made these fluffy chicks.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

- colored tissue paper
- colored cardstock or construction paper
- glue
- 2 large googly eyes
- glue
- scissors
- pencil

Cut out a large egg shape.

Glue on the eyes and then cut out a beak.   Fold a rectangle in half and then cut a triangle with the long side on the fold.

Glue this on as well.

Cut your tissue paper into strips and then into squares.

Apply some glue over a section of the chick.

Then using a pencil end or your fingers scrunch the tissue and stick on.

Fill all the space.

Cut out some feet from your colored paper.

Using more colored paper trace around your hands and cut out.

Glue on your feet and hands and you're done!

I hope to get lots of Easter projects done this weekend as well as my Pysanky so drop by next week for more ideas.

Take care.

  2. Your boys looked so cute. Love the fluffy chick. too bad I'm not working with the 1st grade cubscouts this year. I think my 3rd graders will be too "mature" for this pcraft. Or atleast they may think so. I will share this with the Tiger leader though and hten maybe make one for myself, just because... :)
