"Too Much Glue" Giveaway

Hello again!

After a nearly 3 week, computer free (almost) break at the cabin in BC I'm back. Lots of beach time, painting time, and family time.

Now some of you are going BACK, already.  The rest of us are trying to ignore the calendar as it slowly drifts towards Sept.

When I got back from holidays this cute book was waiting for me in the mailbox.

Too Much Glue by Jason Lefebvre is a new book that tells the funny story of what happens to Matty when he goes overboard with the glue.  I don't know about you but I have many students with the "too much glue" syndrome.

I quite enjoyed this tale and it has great flow with rhyming word sections and single word emphasis, a wonderful storytime book for Kindergarten and Grade 1.

The illustration work by Zac Retz is terrific. Full of colour and interesting looking characters that will keep your listeners glued!

What a great story to start off the year.  There is also an activity guide here.

Some other great glue based projects you can try are:

Monster portraits

and Figure Sculptures

Here's a sneak peek of the next project, a little vacation scrapbook.  I'll have the full 'how to' up shortly.

Too Much Glue by Jason Lefebvre and illustrated by Zac Retz. Hardcover, 32 colour pages, ages 4-8, suggested retail $16.95

  3. One of my biggest challenges with teaching the little ones is the whole glue issue. I would love to teach glue rules using this book as the jumping off point.

  4. Looks like a really fun book. I was recently in BC too!

  5. This book would be perfect for my boys - they definitely have the "too much glue" gene ;)

  9. This looks like a cute book, I would love to read it to my students. I have many students with the "too much glue syndrome." Gluing is a skill I have to reteach them over and over.

  10. FUNNY! Even third graders need that "refresher" course. I LOVE GLUE! Gluesticks just don't give me that satisfaction! This book reminds me of my oldest child (now in high school - ack!) Her preschool teachers used to joke "That child would glue a mack truck to a palm tree if she could catch the truck"! That being said..she still has a love affair with glue. I am going to show her your fabulous glue projects.

  11. The cover of this book reminds me of a particular kindergartner that I caught pouring glue on her project and smacking her hands in it...
    Made me giggle!

  12. Love the cover! THanks for the chance to win!

  18. I stumbled across your blog last year and love, love, love it! Thanks so much for all of your creativity and sharing. My six year just came downstairs, took one look at that cover of that book and let out a big belly laugh! Please do include me in your giveaway. Gearing up to get back in the classroom it is always fun to get fresh ideas.

  20. Oh! That looks like a terrific book! I could even think of ways for my 4th and 5th graders to use it! Keeping fingers crossed!

  21. That book looks awesome! My 2nd grader is just starting to use appropriate amounts of glue after me spending the last 6 years trying to reign in his glue usage. I think we'd both enjoy this book.

Your vacation sounds wonderful! Enjoy the last days of your summer!

  22. What a delightful looking book! Thanks for the opportunity

  23. I LOVE reading to my Kinders and 1st graders... and dislike strongly how they use glue... instead of glue dots, they give me glue oceans! I love the illustrations on the cover of this book... would be perfect before a gluing lesson!!!
and ... Love the photo of your vacay... so serene.... what a beautiful place!
    Thanks for your blog...
