Book Review and Design Post on the Hive

Hey everyone!  I know it was quiet last week on the blog but with the ECEC Conference and an unexpected cold I was swamped.

First off I have a featured post on Creating the Hive you might want to check out.  I have joined their Design Team and I am having lots of fun trying out new products and designing projects to go with them.  If you like the looks of these Gnome Santas visit the Hive for the full tutorial.

Next up, I was asked to review this little book.  I know it's a baking book but each creation is like a tiny "delicious" work of art and I knew the kids would be all over this.

As usual I will be having a giveaway draw you can enter to win your own copy.

"Crazy for Cake Pops" by Molly Bakes is a soft cover cookbook with 50 cake-on-a-stick designs.
-  156 pages
-  6.5"X 9" book (16.5cmX 23cm).

My daughter and I spent a few nights oohing and aahing over the designs trying to figure out what we would make.

In the end in honor of "Movember" this month we decided to make the Moustache pops.

We used chocolate instead of candy melts (an alternative that Molly also recommends).

Although we may have lost a little definition in our shapes due to this change my 2 boys had lots of fun wearing their moustaches and eating them too!

Can't wait to try out these adorable chickens!

and who wouldn't want a Monkey or a Giraffe pop?

All in all we had a great family afternoon creating the Moustache pops and even more fun eating them.  The recipe turned out just like described in the book and although with my cold I couldn't really smell or taste (for that matter) anything the rest of the family gave it a big "thumbs up".

So if you are interested in winning your own copy of "Crazy for Cake Pops" by Molly Bakes, please enter by:

- leaving a comment on this post

- by sending me an email at thatartistwoman@shaw.ca

- or by commenting or liking this post on my Facebook page

I will make the draw on Wednesday November 9th, 2011 so you have until midnight Tuesday.  US and Canadian residents only please.

Please check out the Hive and I will be back soon with details of the projects I presented at the conference.
Take care everyone.
